Description


The original gearbox of the 125cc Piaggio/Gilera 2-stroke models is intentionally very short. Usually used as city cars, they benefit from a short gear reduction and make life difficult for much larger cars at every traffic light. For a high top speed, however, the original transmission is clearly too short, especially in combination with a larger cylinder. With a larger cylinder you can reach 15 to 20 km/h and more without overloading the engine by too high revs. In general you can say that with the 15/41 reduction the gearbox is approx. 20% longer than with the standard gearbox (only on the standard Hexagon EX150 models with a slightly longer reduction the engine is only approx. 13% longer after the conversion to the 15/41 gearbox, which is still clearly noticeable and sufficient)

On the SKR125/TPH125 models this gearbox can also be used on a standard engine. The engine then turns significantly lower on the motorway for the same top speed. Acceleration deteriorates only slightly, and this can be partially compensated with a Sportvario. Normally, under favourable conditions, the top speed also increases by approx. 5-10km/h.

MAIN SHAFT:
This transmission can only be used for engines with toothed main shaft.

MATCH Shaft:
The small auxiliary shaft in front of it must be pressed over.
For this purpose the original pinion must be pressed off the original auxiliary shaft and pressed onto the new Malossi auxiliary shaft. This can be done with a sufficiently dimensioned vice. However, a stationary press is much more comfortable and gentle on the material. Breakaway force between 2-3 tons.

Only suitable for the first generation of 125/150cc engines as used in the SKR125, SKR150, TPH125, Hexagon EX125, Hexagon EXV150.

Attention: This gearbox is almost identical to Malossi item M679614. However, the large gear wheel for the main shaft is much slimmer with M678657 and therefore only suitable for the older SKR, TPH125, EX125 gearboxes.
