For the first time Polini offers with its digital racing ignition a real alternative to the Vespatronic ignitions, which have been on the market for some time now: in contrast to the Vespatronic, no conventional ignition from the automatic range has been adapted here, but a completely cast base plate has been used. The very light flywheel, weighing only 1100 grams, carries an easily exchangeable plastic fan with optimized blade wheel geometry. The blades have been designed to provide sufficient cooling air to the cylinder even at the usual high rpm of a racing engine.the special feature of the Polini ignition that distinguishes it from all the other versions on the market is its digital module with four different ignition timing curves programmed into it that can be accessed through two DIP switches, giving the possibility to adjust the ignition timing according to the engine characteristics.

Two-stroke-typically, a large pre-ignition value is started which is then reduced with increasing engine speed and power.

The entire adjustment range corresponds to max. 10° KW (MAP 4).

This corresponds to 2.6mm at 51mm stroke, for the shaft used by Polini for the diaphragm controlled EVO cylinder kit with 52.8mm stroke this is 2.7mm before top dead center. The distance between the ignition and the polewheel as well as the pick-up has to be calibrated individually on each engine. Minor modifications to the engine housing are necessary.
