The throttling of engine power and speed via a manifold is still a popular means for many scooter manufacturers to adapt their 2-stroke engines to the legal requirements of the respective country. For this purpose, the manifold is either tapered in cross-section and/or made longer than necessary. Some designs also have additionally welded-on tubes which additionally cap the power and speed.

Through this open elbow, with a large cross-section and short guide length, both the power and the attainable final speed (= final speed) are increased significantly.

By replacing the elbow, the acceleration increases significantly, the final speed increases to about 60km/h (unless an additional moped throttle is installed). Ideally, the throttle in the variomatic (throttle ring), which is usually present, should also be removed after installing such a manifold.
