Here you have the choice to keep everything optically and technically in the style of the original fork or to convert directly to another, more modern fork, for example the Vespa PK. In the latter case the technology is of course much more modern and safer for high speeds, but the dispenser fork as well as the standard fender of the scooter to be converted has to be strongly modified. The result is a technically very functional but also optically very modern solution. For many people too modern...
A gentler way of the conversion is to use the original fork and update it with parts of later models to the 10 inch standard.
Therefore it is only necessary to change the front axle, the brake drum and the brake pads including dust cover. The spring as well as the shock absorber can be kept in their original design. The only drawback then is the relatively small distance of the curved fork tube above the tyre. With a heavy load / two-person operation and hard braking, the tyre can then graze the fork tube and additionally 'brake along'. The only way to avoid this is to use a harder spring, which is understandably not very comfortable for the rider.
Another possibility would be to extend the existing fork at the lower end of the shaft by welding in a shaped part. This would of course mean that the original low, stocky shape of the 8 inch models would be abandoned for good, as the rear end of an extended fork should also be raised accordingly.
But even without extending the fork, the conversion to ten inches would already provide valuable ground clearance, which would make the installation of a racing exhaust really sensible. Driving and braking dynamics are already worlds apart between 8 and 10 inches. The larger drums of the 10 inch brake are much more stable with regard to the continuous load capacity (downhill pass) as well as the general braking power.
