The original gearbox of the 125cc Piaggio/Gilera 2-stroke models is intentionally designed very short. Usually used as city cars, they benefit from a short gear reduction and make life difficult at every traffic light start, even for much larger cars. For a high top speed, however, the original transmission is clearly too short, especially in combination with a larger cylinder.
