The Pinasco 251ccm engine kit is suitable for all Vespa large frame models such as Vespa PX, T5, Sprint, TS, Rally, Super, GT, GTR, VNA, VNB, VBA, VBB. Also suitable for the Spanish Motovespa such as CL, DN, DS, TX, PX, GS, Sprint, GT160 as well as the licensed models of LML / Stella. So the cubic capacity of a 125ccm vehicle can be doubled without being conspicuous on the outside. Pinasco states the performance with up to over 30PS, this is of course strongly dependent on the components used such as exhaust and carburetor. A paradediscipline of the Pinasco 250ccm engine is its very quiet running and its good pulling power.
The housings are manufactured in two versions:
MASTER = ROTARY VALVE INLET (HOW FROM WORK PIAGGIO)
SLAVE = MEMBRANE CONTROLLED
The housing is based in its basic features on the Vespa T5 engine housing.
It therefore has a wide and therefore stable crankshaft. The enclosed Pinasco crankshaft has a toothing on the clutch side. Therefore, only the Pinasco clutch (also included in the set) can be used.
Crankshaft bearing on the alternator side is designed as a large roller bearing (NU205 25x52x15mm)
Shaft seal ring
The housings are manufactured to accommodate a metal shaft seal ring (clutch side). Here please always use the version for the 200cc versions with brown sealing lip.
Double lubrication hole for the LIMA bearing
Two additional shim bushes = crankshafts with extra long stroke can do without the centering edge of the lima half. Dimensions shim bushes AØ=9,95mm, IØ=8,40mm, h=13,80mm
The holes for the large silent rubbers are Ø=44mm (original Piaggio Ø=43mm).
The enclosed silent rubbers are stiffer and offer a better guidance of the engine in the frame. Piaggio silent rubbers also fit. Solutions with metal bushings or without preload do not usually fit, if they are made for Piaggio engine housings (Jockey, PLC).
SPECIAL FEATURES ROTARY VALVE VERSION
The rotary vane inlet is much wider than on a PX200, therefore larger carburettors can be used. It is however possible to continue using the standard carburettor type (SI). Pinasco itself offers a version of an SI carburettor with Ø28mm cross section based on the standard carburettor type. A big advantage is the quiet intake noise of the rotary vane version. No separate lubrication as with the Lusso models is possible (there is no preparation for the oil pump drive). An existing carburettor sump of a model with oil pump can still be used, but must be slightly modified (remove centering sleeve for oil pump).
SPECIAL FEATURES MEMBRANE VERSION
The version with diaphragm inlet offers a very large inlet cross section. This makes it perfect for all those who want to get the maximum performance out of the set by means of a large carburettor and a corresponding exhaust.

The NU205 crankshaft bearing on the alternator side is not flush with the engine housing.
It protrudes approx. 1mm in the direction of the crankshaft.

NECESSARY FOR COMPLETION
The engine internals of all 125-200cc models from 1982 onwards can be used. The components from model year 1984 onwards are preferable due to the improved and more stable transmission. Well suited as donor engine is also the engine of the COSA models. Their engine block is different on the outside, but uses the same internals as the PX models from 1992 onwards (note that the primary reduction ratio is shorter: 21/68 instead of 23/65).
The housings are NOT intended for use with an electric starter. Only the fan cover of the Vespa T5 models fits. A suitable cylinder cover is currently not available, it is possible to modify that of the Vespa T5 models. In the near future we will be able to offer a perfectly fitting hood (as of March 2020).
Please use high-strength screw glue for all studs. The cylinder studs do not have a one-sided oversize as is usual with Piaggio. Therefore, glue in the Pinasco cylinder studs supplied. We recommend cutting all threads and cleaning them with compressed air.
Ignition: Pinasco Flytech type T5 (due to the large overcurrent channels, no PX components are suitable)
