Introduction
Aprilia Mojito 50 Custom (2004–2010, ZD4TF)
The Aprilia Mojito 50 Custom is a stylish 50cc retro-design scooter from the Italian manufacturer Aprilia, produced between 2004 and 2010. It is the smallest engine variant in the Mojito series and combines classic cruiser styling with easy handling and strong everyday usability – particularly popular among young riders and beginners.
With its low seat height, flowing body lines, and eye-catching chrome details, the Mojito 50 Custom appeals to style-conscious urban riders looking for a sleek and maneuverable vehicle for city travel.
Model History
The Mojito 50 Custom replaced the previous Habana 50 Custom starting in 2004, introduced as part of Aprilia's redesigned scooter lineup. As part of the retro strategy, it retained the core concept but was technically updated and visually refined. The 50cc version made the Mojito series accessible to younger riders aged 16 and up – especially in countries with compatible licensing rules.
After Aprilia was acquired by Piaggio in 2004, the Mojito 50 Custom remained in the lineup and gained popularity across Southern Europe for its distinct look and easy usability.
Technical Details
The Aprilia Mojito 50 Custom is powered by an air-cooled single-cylinder two-stroke engine with 49 cc displacement. Depending on the market version, it produces around 2.5 to 4.5 hp and is fueled via a carburetor. Power is delivered via a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT), ensuring user-friendly performance.
Top speed varies – around 45 km/h (restricted) up to 70 km/h (derestricted). The frame is a sturdy steel tube chassis. Suspension includes a telescopic front fork and rear swingarm with a mono-shock. Braking consists of a front disc (Ø approx. 190–220 mm) and rear drum brake. Dry weight is about 92 kg and fuel tank capacity is around 7 liters.
Color Options and Accessories
The Mojito 50 Custom was offered in several stylish color variants, including black, white, red, and pastel tones. Its design was inspired by classic American cruisers with chrome accents, round indicators, and a low handlebar.
No official special editions are documented, but a wide range of accessories allowed customization – including windshields, chrome luggage racks, top cases, and seat options. This made it easy to tailor the Mojito 50 Custom to suit individual style and functional needs.
