1. Batteries

The following information is aimed at those who use batteries or items with built-in batteries and do not resell any more (end users):

1.1 Free return of waste batteries

Batteries must not be disposed with household waste. The end user is legally obliged to return used batteries to ensure proper disposal. Waste batteries can be disposed at a local collection point or in the local businesses. Also, we are committed as a distributor of batteries to take back spent batteries, which are limited to our obligation to take back used batteries which we sell or have sold as new batteries in our product range. Aforementioned type of batteries can be returned directly to our warehouse free of charge at the following address:

Scooter Center GmbH
Kurt-Schumacher-Str. 1
50129 Bergheim Glessen
Germany

1.2 Meaning of the battery symbol

BatteriesymbolBatteries are marked with the symbol of a crossed out bin (see picture above). This symbol means that they must not be disposed in household waste. If batteries containing more than 0,0005 % of mercury by weight, more than 0,002 % cadmium by weight or more than 0,004 % lead 0,004 by weight, the chemical symbol for the classification as a pollutant heavy metal will appear below the crossed out bin - "Cd" for cadmium, "Pb" for lead and "Hg" for mercury.

1.3 Starter batteries

According to the par. 10 of the BattG, German battery legislation*, the seller is obliged by law to charge the purchaser a deposit of 7.50 EUR incl. VAT, if s/he does not return any spent battery at the time of purchase. When buying a starter battery, the purchaser receives a deposit voucher. If spent batteries are returned to a certified collection point for the disposal, the stamp and signature placed on the voucher will confirm the disposal of the battery. For the refund of the deposit the purchaser can then send us the stamped voucher together with the customer number and bank account data. Alternatively spent batteries can be returned to us together with the deposit voucher directly in our store. (According to the hazardous material regulation the shipment of the old battery to the seller is not allowed.)

*The application of this regulation is only valid for batteries sold in Germany. For batteries sold outside Germany, no deposit is charged.

2. Waste oil

According to the Waste Oil Ordinance, we are obliged to take back the following used oils free of charge: engine oil, gear oil, oil filter and oil waste occurred during a regular oil change. The amount of the returned used oil shall correspond to the same amount of oil you bought from us.

You can return used oil to our store at any time during our opening hours:

Scooter Center GmbH
Kurt-Schumacher-Str. 1
50129 Bergheim Glessen
Germany

Alternatively, you can also send us the used oil; in this case the costs have to be paid by the purchaser. Please note that for used oil special transport conditions may apply. Business customers shall return waste oils to other waste oil facilities.
