4-speed auxiliary shaft for Vespa largeframe models with 8 inch tyres (Vespa VBB 150, Super 125/150 (VNC/VBC), Motovespa 125/150 L/N/F.

The auxiliary shaft is a good and exact reproduction of the original countershaft. A primary wheel including primary repair kit and (if not available) a countershaft axle and bearings are needed (see accessories).

  • Gearing: 13-17-22-26*/27 (*Motovespa)
  • Matching gears: 57-52-48-42/43

The gear ratio is suitable for vehicles with 8 inch tires. These require a significantly longer transmission than the vehicles with 10 inch tires.

The auxiliary shaft still has the old type primary wheel, as it was already used in the wideframe models. This means that the primary wheel and the auxiliary shaft have wider lugs for the rear dampers and the springs are narrower and thinner than in the later large frame models (type PX). Also the primary wheel is less wide than the PX-type.

We offer several primary wheels for this type of auxiliary shaft.

helical toothed :

  • 67 teeth (series)
  • 64 or 65 teeth (Bollag Motos)

straight toothed :

  • 62 or 63 teeth (BGM PRO)

This allows vehicles with 8-inch tyres and a performance-enhanced engine to have sufficiently long gear ratios. This is necessary if, for example, a 177ccm cylinder is used.
A 23/67 ratio (longest possible ratio with the standard primary wheel) can already be quite short here. The primary wheels of Bollag Motos can be combined with our BGM PRO helical clutch sprockets with 23, 24 or 25 teeth.

The straight toothed BGM PRO primary wheels have the advantage that they do not exert lateral forces on the crankshaft. This eliminates from the outset any movement of the crankshaft bearings in their seats (a common problem with old engines). An important point when the engine has a high torque. Due to the very precise manufacturing of BGM PRO gear parts, the straight-toothed drive is also almost as noiseless as its helical counterpart.

BGM PRO also offers primary repair kits with reinforced shock absorber springs. These are always useful when the engine generates more power than in series. The harder springs are no longer completely compressed under high loads like standard springs, so peak loads are reliably cushioned and all transmission parts are protected.
