Vespa 160 GS (2. Serie)
Ab dem Modelljahr 1963 wird die GS 160 einem Facelift unterzogen. Die Sitzbank präsentiert sich jetzt in einem Dunkelblau. Das kleine Fach über dem Rücklicht ist verschwunden und ein großer Gepäckkasten befindet sich jetzt im Beinschild. Der Motor bleibt unverändert, lediglich der Luftfilterkasten und entsprechend die Vergaserbedüsung werden geändert. Alle GS 160 werden in bleiweißgrau (MaxMeyer Code 1.298.8714) ausgeliefert.
Der Motor ist noch kolbengesteuert. Der Zylinder hat eine 58-mm-Bohrung und eine massiv gebaute Vollwangenwelle mit 60 mm Hub. Als Vergaser kommt ein Dell´Orto SI 27/23 zum Einsatz, dessen Bedüsung im Laufe der Bauzeit mehrfach geändert wird. Der Motor läuft sehr geschmeidig und zieht aus niedrigen Drehzahlen sauber durch. Auch hier müssen die Bedingungen in Italien bei der Ermittlung der Höchstgeschwindigkeit mal wieder äußerst günstig gewesen sein, so sind die 100 km/h doch recht optimistisch.
Der Rahmen und sämtliche Blechteile sind identisch mit dem der GS 160 Serie 1. Die vordere Federung ist, ähnlich wie später bei der PX-Baureihe, mit Federung und Dämpfung in einem Element. Zum ersten mal wird das serienmäßige Ersatzrad unter der linken Seitenhaube untergebracht und mit einer halbrunden Metallabdeckung versteckt. Alu-Zierleisten auf Seitenhauben und vorderem Kotflügel sorgen auf den wuchtigen Blechteilen für eine Auflockerung der Linie. Im Durchstieg ist die von den kleineren Modellen bekannte Gummimatte.
