Silentblock Vespa
Hand on heart - have you ever
replaced the
silentblocks on your Vespa? Unfortunately, even with complete restorations, this is usually neglected. After many, faithfully completed kilometers, it sometimes happens that when you look at the most beautiful rear end in the world, you notice that something is wrong. If the rear wheel is tilted slightly to one side when viewed from behind in the direction of travel, then the
vibration dampers, also known as silent blocks, in the engine housing have had their best days.
Why silent blocks?
The silent blocks do not have a simple task: they are designed to eliminate unpleasant
vibrations from the swingarm and at the same time ensure predictable and
safe guidance of the rear wheel. Because the silent rubber on the right-hand side also has to bear a large part of the engine's mass, this side is subjected to greater stress and is therefore also subject to greater wear. A fresh set of silent rubbers should solve this problem - or so you think... Beware
of "original equipment quality"
In the meantime, it seems that "other" suppliers have also found their way into the Piaggo bag. Some of the original silent rubbers are so soft that the engine is already tilted in the frame due to its own weight. Under load, i.e. with a rider, this condition does not improve. Due to worn or excessively soft silent blocks, faster Vespas sometimes tend to oscillate significantly in the longitudinal axis, even at higher speeds.
The solution: load-optimized silent blocks
We have therefore equipped the
bgm PRO silent blocks with a slightly tougher rubber and also made the more heavily loaded engine side one step firmer. The firmer, right-hand side thus counteracts the engine's own life and the increased load and ensures secure guidance of the drive set swingarm. The bgm PRO silent blocks for Vespa engines are therefore
color-coded:

- GREEN is the slightly firmer silent rubber for the right-hand side in the direction of travel
- RED is the silent block for the left side.
Simple installation of the silent blocks
We have opted for a two-part solution for the design of the silent blocks. This makes it much easier to fit the silent blocks. The following is suitable for fitting the rubbers
tire mounting paste quite well. Grease should not be used. We currently offer silent blocks for the following Vespa models:
Silent block set engine -BGM PRO- Vespa V50, V90, SS50, SS90, PV125, ET3, PK S, PK XL

Silent rubber shock absorber mount Vespa
tip: As an
optimal addition to the silent rubber in the engine crossmember, we also offer
the silent rubber for the rear, lower shock absorber mount.e.

The wide rubber provides optimum support for the shock absorber and is
significantly more resistant to wear than its narrow-chested counterparts on the market. The rubber is available as a set with the most common silent block sleeves:
- Silent block set shock absorber/engine -BGM PRO (Made in Germany) Ø=10mm x 48mm- Vespa PX (from 1984), T5 125cc, PK
- Ø=9mm x 48mm- Vespa PX (1983), Rally, TS, Sprint, Sprint Veloce, GT, GTR, Super, GL, V50, PV, ET3
- Ø=9mm x 46mm- Vespa GS160 / GS4 (VSB1T), SS180 (VSC1T)
- Ø=9mm x 44mm- Vespa VNA, VNB, VBA, VBB
Silent blocks Lambretta
We have been offering silent block sets for Lambretta tracked vehicle enthusiasts for some time. We have also incorporated the
positive experience gained from the development of the various hard silent rubbers into the Vespa silent block sets.
