Lambretta D & LD 125
In December 1951, Innocenti introduced the 125 D models, which had a completely redesigned frame and a significantly improved chassis. Nothing was changed to the tank, glove compartment and saddle solution. Essentially, the D is an improved C model. In addition to the frame, the look is also very similar to the C models.
The engine is a completely new design with an MA18 carburetor. The cylinder is made of cast iron, the air-cooled cylinder head of aluminum. The three-speed gearbox is shifted using the Teleflex cable. The power increases to 5 hp and the speed is almost 80 km/h.
Ribbed brake drums at the front and rear improved braking performance, while the rear brake on the early versions was still operated by a linkage as found on the C & LC. The front suspension is integrated in the fork, a concept which Innocenti consistently retained right up to the DL. Torsion suspension is fitted at the rear.
