The classic Vespa is more than just a scooter - it is a piece of cultural history, a mechanical work of art and an attitude to life that connects generations. Whether it's a charming Vespa V50 Smallframe, a robust PX for everyday use or a sporty Rally for the big tour: the fascination for the classic Italian scooters is unbroken.
At Scooter Center we share this passion. Many of us were infected by the "Vespa virus" at an early age and have dedicated ourselves to preserving and refining these icons ever since. We understand that a classic Vespa is not just a vehicle, but a member of the family. That's why you won't just find parts from us, but also the necessary passion. Read on to find out how we can help you restore, repair or tune your vintage Vespa.
At Scooter Center, we have been living our love for the legendary tin scooter for over 30 years. Founded by two friends who worked tirelessly in the garage themselves, we know exactly what Vespa vintage fans need. Our webshop offers over 40,000 products, with a huge focus on the classic models: from the early "lamp below", the popular V50, Primavera and ET3, the reliable Sprint and Rally models to the indestructible PX series.
Whether you are planning a faithful restoration, a quick repair or want to get more power out of your engine by tuning - we have the right components:
Helpful exploded views of the individual models make it easier for you to find exactly the right part in the store. (By the way: we also offer spare parts and accessories for the modern Vespa ).
The roots of your classic Vespa lie in the post-war period. In 1946, Piaggio, originally an aircraft manufacturer, revolutionized mobility. The engineer Corradino D'Ascanio transferred design principles from aviation to the two-wheeler: a self-supporting sheet steel chassis (monocoque) instead of a tubular frame and a one-sided front wheel suspension.
The result was ingeniously simple, robust and, thanks to the free step-through, could also be ridden with a skirt or suit. The name "Vespa" (wasp) was inspired by the buzzing of the engine and the wasp-waist shape. The success was overwhelming: in the 50s and 60s, the Vespa motorized Europe and became known worldwide through licensed models. It is precisely these models from the 50s through to the late PX models of the 90s that we revere and keep alive today as "classics".
The classic Vespa was never just a utility vehicle, it was always a style statement too. When Audrey Hepburn rode a Vespa through Rome in 1953 in "A Heart and a Crown", the scooter became a worldwide symbol of romance and the Mediterranean way of life. In the 1960s, it became the preferred vehicle of the mods (alongside the Lambretta), as the cult film "Quadrophenia" impressively shows. Today, Vespisti cultivate this cultural heritage worldwide at meetings such as the Vespa World Days.
The Scooter Center is more than just an online store - it's the place to go for anyone who loves the "clack-clack" of the manual gearbox. We offer you a huge range, lightning-fast shipping (often the very next day) and competent customer service from real mechanics.
