Lambretta TV 200
Series 3

TV (GT) 200
After the TV 175 was a complete success in England, the Lambretta importers asked Innocenti what the prospects were for a Lambretta with even more power, displacement and, above all, speed. Innocenti was not very enthusiastic, but after further insistence finally agreed to build a 200cc. However, the British had to take over any warranty claims.

It is not yet entirely clear whether the first TV 200 models were simply bored-out 175cc models or whether a 200cc housing was installed from the outset. However, as soon as the TV 200 had a large engine casing, a crankshaft with a 107 mm connecting rod and 66 mm piston with corresponding piston was installed. A longer gearbox will be fitted. The cylinder has a very deep intake. The exhaust port is initially relatively low, but very wide. As this layout occasionally leads to problems with the rings, a cylinder with a higher and narrower exhaust is used. One problem with the TV 200 is the strong vibrations, which repeatedly lead to problems with the exhaust bracket.

Unprecedented speeds and impressive acceleration figures encouraged the advertising department to market the TV as a Gran Turismo, the epitome of sporty vehicles at the time.

In the course of time, TV 200s were also sold to France, Switzerland, the USA and Scandinavia. With 10.75 hp, speeds of up to 112 km/h were possible. But only under favorable conditions, as the engine sometimes had problems disengaging the very long ratio fourth gear.

The model lift of the TV 200 is similar to that of the TV 175.
