The Lambretta Special X is a further development of the Special and TV models. The TV (GT) 200 is replaced by the SX 200, the Special 150 by the SX 150. The exciting and timeless shape of the bodywork is largely retained.
In comparison to the Special 150, the SX 150 can initially be clearly distinguished visually by its colors. The metallic silver is replaced by a gray-white and a rarer apple green. The SX 150 also has a chrome-plated fin on the front mudguard and a polished horn grille. Both the SX 150 and SX 200 have the respective model designation above the special lettering on the leg shield. The plate under the seat now bears the Lambretta Innocenti lettering on both vehicles.

In contrast to the SX 150, the SX 200 is visually quite different from the TV (GT) 200. Although the color of choice here is also Bianco Nuovo, there are special side covers for the SX 200 with a 200 integrated in the decorative arrows. Perhaps the fastest side covers of all time when stationary? Otherwise, the SX 200 is distinguished by the longer kickstarter, which is also only fitted to this model.

The SX series is advertised with the slogan 'Give Yourself SX - Appeal'. Supported by the speedometer that reaches up to 120 km/h (SX 150) and 140 km/h (SX 200), the power of these vehicles is shamelessly flaunted.

Some improvements have been made in the engine department of the 150cc models. The SH 20 carburetor is now also installed in this displacement class. In conjunction with a different cylinder, the power increases to a very respectable 9.38 hp, which enables a top speed of 96 km/h. The SX 150 is the only Lambretta with two cylinder head gaskets - at least if you exclude the two-cylinder prototype of the SX 200.

The changes to the 200 cc engine are much more extensive. The problems of the TV 200 led to changes to the exhaust, pistons, engine mounts and cylinder. The exhaust is given an additional bracket, which is bolted under the engine housing, thus better absorbing vibrations. The porting of the cylinder is revised and, in conjunction with the TV 175 gearbox, the SX 200 becomes significantly more suitable for everyday use. Performance stagnates at 11 hp and 105 km/h is the rule rather than the exception.

Towards the end of production, the levers on the side covers are removed and the system of the DL/GP models that will soon follow is anticipated. The metal toolbox is also replaced by a plastic one. The cascading emblem is replaced by the rectangular Innocenti emblem. The last SX models are delivered with silver rims and brake drums.
After three years of construction, 31238 SX 150s were built in January 1969. After 20783 models of the SX 200, this production was also discontinued.
