Aprilia SR GT 200 (2021–2023, RP8MD)

The Aprilia SR GT 200 (RP8MD) is a sporty urban adventure scooter produced by the Italian manufacturer Aprilia from 2021 to 2023. It belongs to the SR GT range, which combines the comfort and everyday practicality of a scooter with the rugged look and versatility of an adventure bike.
With its more powerful 200cc engine, the SR GT 200 is aimed at riders seeking an agile yet long-distance-capable vehicle that performs confidently both in the city and on country roads.

Model History

The SR GT range was introduced in 2021 as a new concept within the Aprilia lineup. Its aim was to combine sporty performance with a more comfortable riding position, increased ground clearance, and adventure-oriented design elements.
The SR GT 200 shares the same platform as the SR GT 125 but offers significantly more pulling power thanks to its larger displacement, particularly at higher speeds or when fully loaded.
It was marketed primarily in Asian and European markets, where the 200cc segment appeals to performance-oriented commuters and touring riders.

Technical Details

Engine and Performance

The SR GT 200 is powered by a modern, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, four-stroke engine with a displacement of 174 cc. This engine is part of Piaggio/Aprilia’s latest i-get (“Italian Green Experience Technology”) generation and meets Euro 5 emissions standards.
It produces around 13 kW (17.4 hp) at 8,500 rpm, with maximum torque of approximately 16.5 Nm at 7,000 rpm.
Power is delivered via a continuously variable transmission (CVT), providing smooth acceleration without gear changes. Depending on conditions, the top speed is around 110–115 km/h.

Chassis and Brakes

The chassis features a 33 mm telescopic fork at the front with 122 mm of travel, and twin rear shock absorbers with 102 mm of travel, adjustable for preload.
The braking system consists of a hydraulic 260 mm front disc and a 220 mm rear disc, supported by a dual-channel ABS system.
With a ready-to-ride weight of approximately 148 kg and a wheelbase of 1,350 mm, the SR GT 200 offers stable yet agile handling. Tyres sized 110/80-14 at the front and 130/70-13 at the rear provide secure grip on a variety of road surfaces.

Design and Variants

The SR GT 200’s design blends sporty Aprilia DNA with adventure elements such as a high, wide handlebar, a tinted windscreen, and an upright riding position. The distinctive front end is equipped with Aprilia’s signature triple-LED headlight.
Colour options included understated finishes such as “Street Grey” and “Infinity Blue” as well as sportier designs in red, black, or with racing graphics in the “Sport” version.
Thanks to its more powerful engine, comfortable ergonomics, and everyday versatility, the SR GT 200 is considered an attractive choice for riders who value sporty performance and flexibility.
