Introduction

Aprilia Atlantic 250 (2005-2006, ZD4SPB)

The Aprilia Atlantic 250 is a scooter from the Italian manufacturer Aprilia, produced between 2005 and 2006. This model belongs to the category of midi-scooters and was developed as a powerful, comfortable option within the Atlantic range.
The Atlantic 250 was aimed at riders looking for a scooter for urban and suburban use, suitable for both everyday use and longer distances. It expanded the Atlantic series, which Aprilia introduced in the early 2000s to be present in the mid-sized scooter market.

Model History

Historically, the Aprilia Atlantic 250 belongs to the second phase of the Atlantic range, which began in 2003 with the Atlantic 125 and 200 models. Aprilia, founded in 1945 by Alberto Beggio as a bicycle manufacturer, transformed under Ivano Beggio from the 1960s into a motorcycle producer and started scooter production in the 1980s with the Amico (1990) through collaboration with Rotax.
Following models like the Scarabeo and Leonardo, Aprilia introduced the Atlantic series, which was complemented by a more powerful version with the 250 in 2005. It stands between the Atlantic 200 and the larger Atlantic 500, showcasing Aprilia's efforts to cover various engine capacities in the midi and maxi-scooter segment after being acquired by Piaggio in 2004.

Technical Details

Technically, the Aprilia Atlantic 250 is equipped with a water-cooled 244 cc four-stroke engine, delivering about 23 hp (approximately 17 kW) at 8,000 rpm. The engine is from Piaggio (Quasar engine) and operates with electronic fuel injection. It is coupled with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) with a belt, allowing for easy operation.
The top speed is around 120 km/h. The frame consists of a sturdy steel tube construction, the suspension includes a front telescopic fork with a 35 mm diameter and a rear swingarm with two adjustable shock absorbers. The braking system consists of disc brakes on both wheels, with the front disc having a diameter of 260 mm. With a dry weight of about 160 kg and a tank capacity of 11 liters, the Atlantic 250 was robust and designed for longer rides.

Color Options and Accessories

The Aprilia Atlantic 250 was offered in several colors, including black, silver, and blue, with exact availability varying by market. These color options emphasized the modern and dynamic style of the scooter.
Official special models of the Atlantic 250 are not documented, but there were differences within the Atlantic range between the engine variants (125, 200, 250, 500) in technical details and equipment. Optionally, the scooter could be equipped with accessories such as a top case, a higher windshield, or a passenger backrest to increase comfort and functionality, with the standard version being the focus of production.
