Background and Development

History of Aprilia

The Aprilia Scarabeo 100 (2001-2005, ZD4SA) is a scooter produced by the Italian manufacturer Aprilia between 2001 and 2005.
Founded in 1945 by Alberto Beggio as a bicycle manufacturer, Aprilia developed into a significant player in the motorcycle and scooter industry under the leadership of his son Ivano Beggio from the 1960s onwards.
The Scarabeo 100 is part of the Scarabeo model range, introduced in 1993 with the Scarabeo 50, known for its elegant, classic design.
While Aprilia was also known for sporty models like the RS series or the Rally scooter in the early 2000s, the Scarabeo 100 was aimed at riders seeking a stylish and practical scooter for everyday use.
Its production period spans the years following Aprilia's acquisition of Laverda and Moto Guzzi in 2000 and includes the integration of the company into the Piaggio Group in 2004.

The braking system includes a front disc brake and a rear drum brake.
With a dry weight of about 105 kg and a tank capacity of around 8 liters, the Scarabeo 100 is designed for urban use, with its design featuring rounded shapes and a distinctive round headlight reflecting a timeless aesthetic.
