Introduction
The Aprilia Scarabeo 100
The Aprilia Scarabeo 100 (2006-2012, ZD4VAA) is a scooter produced by the Italian manufacturer Aprilia between 2006 and 2012. Founded in 1945 by Alberto Beggio as a bicycle factory, Aprilia developed into a significant producer of motorcycles and scooters under the leadership of his son Ivano Beggio from the 1960s onwards.
The Scarabeo 100 is part of the Scarabeo model range, which was introduced in 1993 with the Scarabeo 50 and is characterized by an elegant, classic design with large wheels.
While Aprilia was also known for sporty models like the RS series or the Rally scooter in the 2000s, the Scarabeo 100 positioned itself as a practical and stylish everyday scooter.
Its production period falls into the phase after Aprilia's acquisition by the Piaggio Group in 2004, reflecting the use of Piaggio technologies in this model.
Technical Details
Engine and Performance
Technically, the Aprilia Scarabeo 100 (ZD4VAA) is equipped with a 100cc four-stroke engine that is air-cooled and operated by a carburetor.
This engine, based on the Piaggio LEADER platform, offers higher performance than the 50cc versions of the Scarabeo range and is designed for a top speed of about 90 km/h, depending on registration regulations.
Power transmission is via a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT), making the scooter particularly easy to ride.
Chassis and Brakes
The chassis includes a telescopic fork at the front and a single shock absorber at the rear.
The braking system consists of a front disc brake and a rear drum brake.
With a dry weight of about 105 kg and a tank capacity of around 8 liters, the Scarabeo 100 is designed for urban use.
Its design features 16-inch wheels, round shapes, and a large round headlight, giving it a timeless appearance.
Design and Variants
The Aprilia Scarabeo 100 (ZD4VAA) was painted in several colors that emphasized its elegant and classic style.
Available paint finishes included black, silver, blue, and red, often in metallic tones, giving the scooter a high-quality appearance.
Regarding special models, there are no clear indications that Aprilia released special or limited editions of the Scarabeo 100 (ZD4VAA) during the production years 2006 to 2012.
While the Scarabeo range was expanded with various engine sizes and design variations, the 100cc version of these model years remained largely uniform in its execution.
