Introduction

Aprilia Scarabeo 50 (2005–2006, ZD4TE)

The Aprilia Scarabeo 50 (ZD4TE) is an elegant 50cc four-stroke scooter produced by Aprilia between 2005 and 2006. This model belongs to the well-known Scarabeo family and differs from the concurrently available two-stroke versions through its quiet, fuel-efficient, and environmentally friendly engine.
With classic design, large 16-inch wheels, and practical technology, the Scarabeo 50 4T was aimed especially at beginners and urban commuters who valued reliability and low running costs.

Model History

While Aprilia had long offered the Scarabeo 50 exclusively with two-stroke engines, the ZD4TE model introduced in 2005 marked the debut of a version with an air-cooled four-stroke engine. It was a response to the increasing demand for quieter, lower-emission scooters—especially in urban environments.
The 50 4T was built on the familiar Scarabeo chassis but featured a completely new engine. Though it was only produced briefly, it laid the groundwork for later four-stroke Scarabeo models.

Technical Details

Top speed is around 45 km/h (restricted). The chassis features a telescopic fork at the front and a mono-shock at the rear. Braking is handled by a 220 mm front disc and a rear drum. Dry weight is approx. 92 kg, and the fuel tank holds about 7 liters.

Color Options and Accessories

The Scarabeo 50 4T (ZD4TE) was available in stylish, timeless colors like silver, dark blue, and anthracite. Combined with the classic lines and large wheels, the result was a refined appearance that appealed to both younger and more experienced riders.
