Model History

The name “Sprint” appeared for the first time in the 2005 model year, but did not represent a completely new series – rather, it was a refined version of the established Atlantic 500.
Technically, the Atlantic 500 Sprint inherited many components from the previous generation, but featured updated styling, a more compact fairing, and various detail improvements aimed at enhancing everyday usability and ride dynamics.
With this model, Aprilia aimed to bridge the gap between performance and elegant design, while maintaining the typical comfort features of the Atlantic lineup.

Technical Details

The Atlantic 500 Sprint is powered by a liquid-cooled single-cylinder four-stroke engine with electronic fuel injection and a displacement of 459 cm³.
The engine produces around 27 kW (37 hp) at 6,750 rpm, with some sources reporting up to 39 hp. Maximum torque is approximately 40 Nm at 5,500 rpm.
Power is transmitted via a continuously variable transmission (CVT) with belt drive. The top speed is approximately 150 km/h.
The dry weight is about 199 kg, and the fuel tank holds around 15 litres, including reserve.

Chassis and Brakes

The scooter features a tubular steel frame with the engine serving as a stressed member. Up front, a telescopic fork ensures steering precision, while the rear is equipped with a dual shock swingarm with adjustable preload.
The braking system includes twin 260 mm discs at the front with multi-piston calipers, and a 220 mm disc at the rear, offering excellent stopping power.
Tyre dimensions are 120/70-14 at the front and 140/60-14 at the rear – ideal for stability even under dynamic riding.
The wheelbase measures approximately 1,575 mm, and the seat height is about 780 mm, striking a good balance between stability and rider accessibility.
