Gearbox parts from Stefano Benelli enjoy a very good reputation in the Vespa scene, and rightly so. If you are looking for reliable racing technology for your gearbox, you will find it here. Hardened to an average of 60 HRC, Benelli parts offer exactly the perfect balance of sufficient hardness and the necessary elasticity to withstand the enormous stresses in a racing engine.
Stefano now offers his enormous expertise in the form of a complete gearbox for the Wideframe models. This includes the four gears, the auxiliary shaft, the auxiliary shaft axle as well as a shift cross including shift pin bushing.

MASSIVE GEARING
The Benelli gearbox has significantly fewer teeth (on the gears as well as on the auxiliary shaft) than the Pinasco gearbox. This makes the so-called tooth base wider and the gearing therefore much more stable.

DISTRIBUTION
Compared to the Pinasco gearbox, the one from Stefano Benelli is equally stepped, and roughly corresponds to that of an ACMA 150 GL. However, the Benelli is slightly shorter than the Pinasco across all gears. To get the same gear ratio as with the Pinasco, one more tooth is needed on the primary side of the clutch pinion (23/67 primary with Benelli gearbox is almost the same as 22/67 primary on Pinasco gearbox).

GEAR LENGTH + PRIMARY
The gear ratio in fourth gear is about the same as the third gear of an original VM/VN 3-speed gearbox. An increase in top speed can therefore only be achieved by using a longer ratio primary. The Benelli gearbox's graduation is thus significantly shorter than that of an original 3-speed. This allows a long primary reduction without the jump from gear three to four stalling the engine. We recommend the straight-toothed BGM PRO primary gears with 62 or 63 teeth as an ideal complement.

Gear ratio BENELLI:

1st gear: 56/13

2nd gear: 40/13

3rd gear: 37/17

4th gear: 34/20

With a 23/67 primary on 8 inch tyres the Benelli gearbox corresponds in the gradation and total reduction to a Vespa PX150 with 10 inch tyres (7000rpm = ~100km/h in 4th gear).

CONCLUSION: Very stable and resilient transmission even for ambitious wideframe tuning projects.
