Introduction

Aprilia - Mojito 50 Custom (1999–2001, ZD4PKA1)

The Aprilia Mojito 50 Custom (model years 1999 to 2001, ZD4PKA1) is an early version of the popular Mojito/Habana series, produced alongside the ZD4PK00 model. It combines classic scooter aesthetics with comfortable ergonomics and solid technical features – ideal for style-conscious urban riders.
Its striking lines, ease of use, and a touch of Italian Dolce Vita make it a charming companion for everyday commuting.

Model history

As part of the first Mojito generation, the ZD4PKA1 version was manufactured from 1999 to 2001 and closely mirrored the structure and styling of its sister model ZD4PK00.
With this scooter, Aprilia responded to the growing retro trend and positioned the Mojito as an elegant alternative to more sporty scooters.
Later replaced by the upgraded “Mojito Retro” and “Mojito Custom 2” versions, the ZD4PKA1 remains a beloved option for fans of vintage-style scooters.

Technical details

The Aprilia Mojito 50 Custom (ZD4PKA1) features an air-cooled single-cylinder two-stroke engine with 49 cc and a carburetor.
Power output ranges from approx. 2.8–3.2 kW depending on restriction, with a top speed of around 45 km/h in the standard setup.
Power is transmitted via a continuously variable CVT transmission with centrifugal clutch. Both electric and kick starters were standard equipment.
The engine is known for its low maintenance, reliability, and suitability for daily city use.

Chassis and brakes

The frame consists of a tubular steel construction with a telescopic front fork and rear swingarm with a single shock absorber – designed for comfort and stability in urban conditions.
Braking is provided by a 190 mm front disc and a rear drum brake – a common setup for this class.
With a dry weight of around 89 kg and a low seat height, the Mojito offers safe, balanced handling – even for beginners.
Most versions came with 10-inch wheels front and rear.

Features and design

The Mojito 50 Custom offers a comfortable seat, flat step-through, and upright riding position – perfect for comfort-focused riders.
Notable design features include chrome trim, round headlight, classic mirrors, and a clean analog speedometer.
Depending on the version, under-seat storage, a standard rear luggage rack, and optional whitewall tires were included.

Color options

This model was offered in several classic colors including black, ivory, dark blue, and red. Some markets also saw metallic finishes.
Two-tone seats and chrome rims were available on selected versions and enhanced the scooter’s vintage character.
No official limited editions are documented, but many units were customized individually.
