Introduction

Aprilia - Mojito 50 Retro (1999–2001, ZD4PKB0)

The Aprilia Mojito 50 Retro (type ZD4PKB0), produced between 1999 and 2001, marked the beginning of the popular Mojito series. With its pronounced retro design and classic lines, the model took inspiration from the American cruiser style of the 1950s – a clear departure from the sportier scooters of its time.
It quickly gained popularity among beginners and style-conscious city riders looking for an individual look paired with Italian engineering.

Model History

As the first model of the Mojito series, the ZD4PKB0 was designed with a strong focus on styling and daily usability. Its low step-through, curved handlebar, and deep seat defined its unique silhouette.
Factory versions were limited to 45 km/h, but many were customized or visually upgraded. The Retro variant remained in production until around 2001, after which it was replaced by more technically updated versions.

Technical Specifications

The Mojito 50 Retro is powered by an air-cooled single-cylinder two-stroke engine with 49 cc displacement.
It delivers approximately 3.1 kW (4.2 hp) at around 6,500 rpm. Power is transferred via a low-maintenance CVT automatic transmission with centrifugal clutch.
It comes standard with both electric and kick starters. The engine complies with the Euro 1 emission standard of the time.

Chassis and Features

The chassis consists of a torsion-resistant steel tube frame with a conventional telescopic fork at the front and a single rear shock absorber.
Braking is handled by a 190 mm disc at the front and a drum brake at the rear.
The 10-inch wheels ensure agile handling in city traffic. Seat height is around 760 mm – ideal for shorter riders.
Other features: under-seat helmet compartment, chrome trim, and a comfortable dual seat.

Color Options

The ZD4PKB0 version was available in several classic colors, including black, cream, dark red, and light blue.
Chrome elements and whitewall tires emphasized the retro character. Official limited editions were not documented for this series.
However, many units were personalized with accessories or repainted to suit individual taste.
