Introduction

Model Description

The model "Aprilia - SR 50 Di-Tech (2011, ZD4TE)" is a sporty scooter produced by the Italian manufacturer Aprilia in 2011. It belongs to the SR 50 series, known since 1992 for its dynamic design and advanced technology.
The SR 50 Di-Tech was developed to offer riders in the 50cc class, which can be used with an AM license or comparable categories, a powerful and agile vehicle for urban and suburban use. Notably, the use of DiTech technology sets the scooter apart from other models of the time.

History of the SR 50 Series

The SR 50 series was first introduced in 1992 and quickly established itself as a pioneer in the sporty scooter segment. The SR 50 Di-Tech (2011, ZD4TE) is part of the third generation of this model family, which made a technological leap with the introduction of direct injection (DiTech) from 2000.
This innovation was first introduced in 1999 and implemented as standard in the DiTech models from 2000. The second generation from 1997 already brought a more aggressive design and dual disc brakes, while the DiTech era focused on efficiency and performance.
The ZD4TE from 2011 continues this development tradition and represents Aprilia's efforts to compete with technical refinements in the 50cc class against competitors like Yamaha or Piaggio. By this time, Aprilia was already part of the Piaggio Group, which acquired the company in 2004.

Technical Details

Engine and Drive

Technically, the Aprilia SR 50 Di-Tech (2011, ZD4TE) is powered by a single-cylinder two-stroke engine with a displacement of 49cc. The engine features liquid cooling and the eponymous DiTech direct injection, developed in collaboration with Orbital.
This technology ensures more precise fuel delivery and a power output of about 4 kW (5.4 hp) at 7,000 rpm, with the top speed legally limited to about 45 km/h. The vehicle is equipped with a continuously variable CVT transmission, allowing for easy handling.

Chassis and Brakes

The chassis consists of a hydraulic telescopic fork at the front and a single shock absorber at the rear, supporting a sporty driving style. The braking system includes a 190 mm diameter disc brake at the front and a 110 mm drum brake at the rear, providing reliable deceleration.
With a dry weight of about 95 kg and a wheelbase of 1,290 mm, the scooter remains agile and easy to maneuver. The tires, sized 130/60-13 at the front and rear, enhance the sporty character.

Design and Variants

Color Variants

The Aprilia SR 50 Di-Tech (2011, ZD4TE) was available in several color variants, which could vary depending on the market. Common paint options include "Nero Aprilia" (Black), "Bianco Glam" (White), and "Rosso Ibis" (Red), emphasizing the scooter's dynamic and modern look.

Special Models

Regarding special models, there are no specific indications that the ZD4TE was released as a standalone limited edition. However, the SR 50 series was generally known for offering special variants like the "R Factory" or "Racing" editions in certain years, often equipped with additional design elements or technical upgrades.
For the 2011 Di-Tech ZD4TE, the focus is on standard production with DiTech technology as the main feature, although individual customizations by dealers might have been possible.
