Vespa 200 Rally Electronic (Ducati)

The year 1972 brought the Rally Electronic 200 (VSE1T). Visually, the 200 model differs primarily from its smaller predecessor by the rally stripes on the side panels and fender. The first models of the 200 had a kill switch above the fuel tap instead of an ignition lock in the handlebar head. The engine casing was modified to accommodate a larger displacement cylinder. A major innovation was the electronic ignition, which finally retired the perpetually wearing contact points and capacitor. From 1973 to 1976, the Rally was equipped with the Femsatronic system. From 1976 onwards, the proven Ducati ignition system was used. This also introduced the needle bearing (part no. 3720035) in combination with the 24/35/6 oil seal, which is still used in PX engines today. With the SI 24/24 carburetor and a new exhaust, the Rally Electronic 200 delivers 12 HP at 5,700 rpm. The ignition coils can be easily distinguished by their mounting location: the Femsatronic system is mounted on the frame, while the Ducati ignition system is mounted on the engine.
