The year 1969 saw movement in Piaggio's model range. The V50 was thoroughly revised and presented as the 50 Special. Apart from the carburetor, now an SHB 16/12, not much has changed under the side cover. From frame number V5B3T (1974), the Special finally received a four-speed gearbox. The 10-inch wheels are mounted on self-ventilating aluminum brake drums. The rectangular handlebar head with large, rectangular plastic cover made of black plastic, the gray plastic cascade in an angular design and the rear light with black plastic cover clearly herald the end of the 1960s.
