For larger surfaces, it is always an advantage to spray the surface with a little water before applying the sticker. You can also add a few drops of washing-up liquid to the water to make it more slippery. This means that corrections can still be made during application without destroying the sticker. In the case of stickers that sit on a carrier film, you can use a plastic squeegee to push the water out from under the sticker by pulling the squeegee diagonally and with light pressure over the surface. This prevents the formation of water reservoirs in the sticker, which would only dry away slowly, and the bond between the sticker and the surface is further improved by the squeegee.
Stickers without a backing film can also be applied in this way using a protective document cover from an office supply store. If you have steady hands, you can of course position the sticker directly without the aid of water.
