Dexter Racing Smallframe exhaust - dyno performance, wide band, handmade in Mezzolombardo

Test bench developed Hand welded and brazed Wide rev band with overrev For conventional motor housings M1B / M1L / VMC ET6-ET7 Power from ~7,000 rpm, revs >12,000 Manifold Ø 37 mm Exhaust distance 60 / 62 mm 3.50-10 compatible Recommended times from 130 / 190

Developed on the test bench, built by hand - high-end for speed-hungry smallframe setups

Field of application

The Dexter Racing Smallframe exhaust was developed on the performance test bench and then welded by hand from segments and neatly soldered. It is designed as a high-end system for cylinders on conventional engine housings, e.g. Quattrini M1B, M1L and VMC ET6/ET7. The aim is maximum driving dynamics with a long usable band and powerful overrev.

Characteristics

Power is deliberately applied later at around 7,000 rpm. From here , the system continues to rev mercilessly above 12,000 rpm, delivering plenty of torque and peak power. An example measurement from the screenshot shows approx. 27.5 hp with an even plateau and long overrev - ideal for riders who love revving.

Setup and gear ratio

- Recommended timing from 130 / 190 and upwards.
- Fits with 3.50-10 tires; clean jetting and ignition control recommended.
- Select gearbox to suit, but not too long so that the overrev is fully utilized.
- Realistic power range depending on setup: approx. 25-30 hp; sample measurement: 27.5 hp.

Mounting and construction

Precise fit thanks to segmented design. Fitting to Special, ET3, Primavera without modifications; partial removal of the inner stay plate is necessary for PK, HP, FL2, ETS. Sturdy flange with spring mount; tight plug-in connection on the manifold.

Technical details

✅ Platform: conventional engine housings (e.g. Quattrini M1B, M1L, VMC ET6/ET7)
✅ Exhaust bolt spacing: 60 / 62 mm (interasse scarico)
✅ Manifold inner diameter: Ø 37 mm
✅ Character: late use from ~7.000 rpm, overrev above 12,000 rpm
✅ Tire clearance: 3.50-10
✅ Vehicles: Vespa Special, ET3, Primavera (PK/HP/FL2/ETS with adaptation)

Quality and workmanship

Segmented, low-stress fitting body; stable brackets for long-lasting resilience.

Turned flange parts for precise cylinder fit; manifold with spring mount and tight plug-in connection.

Manufactured in small series in Mezzolombardo - each system is tested and fine-tuned on the test bench.

Who is Dexter Racing?

Dexter Racing stands for innovative racing exhaust systems with real practical relevance. Behind the brand is Luca Moscon from Mezzolombardo. The vertical range of manufacture is exceptional: from cylinders and exhausts to engine housings and gearboxes, almost everything is produced in the company's own workshop. In 2025, Moscon confidently won the 24-hour endurance race in Whilton Mill (England) - a clear statement of performance and durability.

High-revving smallframe engines based on Quattrini M1B/M1L or VMC ET6/ET7 with timing from 130/190, a suitable carburetor/intake system and a well-spaced gearbox.
Relatively late onset at ~7,000 rpm, after which the engine pulls very strongly and revs above 12,000 rpm - perfect for speed-hungry riders who want to spin out gears for a long time.
Depending on the cylinder, timing, intake, carburetor and gear ratio, around 25-30 hp is possible. An example measurement shows 27.5 hp. Values are setup-dependent.
