Racing exhaust JL-Style Lefthand stainless steel for Vespa PX80, PX125, PX150 - broadband, high revving, classic 90s design

Stainless steel Lefthand design Broadband racing characteristics Suitable for wide tires Stainless steel rear silencer Plug-and-play

Replica of the legendary JL design of the 1990s - now completely in stainless steel

Field of application

The JL-Style Lefthand is a powerful racing system with a wide usable rev range. The typical two-stroke performance kick is already noticeable on the stock engine, but the exhaust shows its strengths particularly on setups from 177 cc. Historically designed for powerful 200cc setups, it also delivers a distinctly sporty performance on PX80/125/150 with 177cc cylinders and noticeably picks up speed from around 5,000 rpm.

Characteristics

Compared to a box system, the JL-Style offers slightly less torque at the bottom end, but compensates for this with joyful revving and powerful power build-up. The result: sporty propulsion in the mid-range and a clear increase in top speed via the revving capacity. The stainless steel construction ensures durability and a high-quality, sporty look, while the sound is voluminous and throaty.

Setup and gear ratio

- Ideal with 177 cc touring and sports cylinders (e.g. BGM 177, Quattrini M1X, Pinasco/Stelvio 177).
- standard carburetor works, larger carburetors are useful depending on the setup; clean jetting is mandatory.
- Demanding on small engines - with 177 cc the JL unfolds its full potential.
- Do not select too long a primary so that the engine can rev freely.

Fitting and tuning

Plug-and-play on the original mounting points in left-hand design. After installation, check and adjust carburetor tuning and ignition setting. Retighten screw connections after 50-100 km. For high revving setups, check the spark plug pattern and temperatures regularly.

Technical details

✅ Exhaust body: stainless steel
✅ Rear silencer: stainless steel
✅ Suitable for wide tires
✅ High-quality workmanship and durable look

Advantages at a glance

- Broadband racing design with strong upper rev range

- Noticeable power boost, especially with 177 cc on PX80/125/150

- Stainless steel - permanently rust-free, high-quality look

- Voluminous, sporty and throaty sound

- Plug-and-play in left-hand position, suitable for wide tires

Setup hint: timing and intake system

Very nice combinations are created with cylinders with moderate timing angles (e.g. Quattrini M1X, BGM 177, Stelvio 177). In conjunction with a heavily modified rotary valve or diaphragm, the JL style also tolerates pronounced timing angles of over 120°/180°.

Box systems often deliver earlier torque. The JL-Style kicks in a little later at the bottom, but revs out much more freely at the top and pushes powerfully from around 5,000 rpm - ideal for sporty driving styles and high cruising speeds.
Yes, the power boost is noticeable. However, the JL unfolds its full potential with 177 cc cylinders and suitable tuning. The upper rev range is particularly strong here.
Very harmonious: BGM 177, Quattrini M1X, Stelvio 177. With a strong rotary valve or diaphragm, larger timing is also possible, which further emphasizes the upper range.
Always adjust jetting and ignition individually. Too long a primary reduces the liveliness. The aim is to allow the engine to rev freely in order to achieve top speed via the revving capacity.
