Lambretta TV 175
Series 2
In January, the TV 175 Series 2 is also introduced and advertised as "the Sportsman scooter". As with the Li 125 & 150, the difference that immediately catches the eye is the new steering head with integrated headlight. Like the Li 150, the TV has aluminum rails with rubber profiles and tread strip end pieces in the step-through area. The double seat bench is standard. Single seats are available as an option. The front fork with the additional shock absorbers painted in the vehicle color was adopted from the Series 1. The front drum brake has been revised and features specific forklinks. The rear light is modified during production and becomes larger. This also applies to the horn grille. The rear light seal remains white, and the rubber parts also remain gray with the exception of the black kickstand feet and the kickstarter rubber.
The first Series 2 TVs had a frame that was too weak. This must have caused such problems on some models that Innocenti decided to reinforce them. For this purpose, the frames were cut open lengthwise and welded together again after a reinforcing plate had been inserted. The frames were then made from thicker tubes. The frames can also be distinguished by their frame numbers. The first version, mainly vehicles that had to be reinforced, has a 1, the later ones a 2 as the first frame number.
In contrast to the TV 175 Series 1, the engine only has a 58 mm stroke (116 mm connecting rod). Cylinders and pistons are specific to this model. The failure-prone kickstarter mechanism is dropped and the mechanism of the Li models is adopted. Even if the carburetor diameter is reduced to 21 mm, the power remains at 8.6 hp and the top speed even rises to 104 km/h. In terms of color, the TV 2 always looks good, whether in ivory or light blue.
When production stopped, 41,787 TVs had been built.
