Introduction

Aprilia Leonardo 150 (1999–2001, ZD4MB)

The Aprilia Leonardo 150 is a mid-range scooter from the Italian manufacturer Aprilia, produced between 1999 and 2001. Part of the successful Leonardo series, it positioned itself between the 125 and 250 models as a balanced option for riders seeking more performance for everyday use – without sacrificing compact dimensions.
With its modern design, powerful four-stroke engine, and high build quality, the Leonardo 150 was aimed at style-conscious commuters and frequent city riders who valued dynamics, comfort, and practicality.

Model History

The Leonardo series was launched in 1996 and marked Aprilia’s entry into the premium scooter segment. Following the success of the Leonardo 125 and 250, Aprilia added the 150 version in 1999. The goal was to offer a more powerful alternative to the 125 while maintaining agility, compactness, and accessibility.
The Leonardo 150 featured the same high-quality bodywork and distinctive dual-headlight design as its siblings. It served as a bridge between entry-level and touring scooters and gained popularity, especially in Southern European markets.

Technical Details

The Aprilia Leonardo 150 is powered by a liquid-cooled single-cylinder four-stroke engine with 151 cc displacement. The Rotax-built engine produces around 13 hp (9.5 kW) at 9,000 rpm and is known for its smoothness and reliability. Power is transmitted via a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
Top speed is approximately 110 km/h. The frame is a robust steel tube structure. Suspension includes a 30 mm telescopic fork at the front and a swingarm with two adjustable rear shocks. Braking is handled by 220 mm front and 190 mm rear disc brakes. Dry weight is around 122 kg and the fuel tank holds about 9 liters.

Color Options and Accessories

The Leonardo 150 was available in a variety of modern colors, including silver, black, and metallic red. Its sporty yet elegant styling was accentuated by clean surfaces and high-quality finishes.
No special editions were officially documented, but the Leonardo 150 could be individually upgraded – with a top case, tall windscreen, passenger backrest, or custom seat options. This made it suitable for both everyday commuting and weekend tours.
