Title: Bands of Gold | Blech das verbindet: Vespa und Lambretta - German language
The book "Bands of Gold" describes the scooterist scene in Germany. The subculture surrounding the famous Vespa and Lambretta scooters is described honestly, critically, yet with a touch of humor. In addition to the scooter clubs, the book also features the scene’s online forums and club events, such as gatherings (so-called “runs”), “nighter” rides, and custom shows.
"Bands of Gold" portrays the scene and scooter riders just as they are: a group with values “made of gold” and a bond of camaraderie that spans years or even entire chapters of life.
Michael Martin traveled on his own (on a scooter, of course) to selected clubs to interview them and thus gain the most authentic impression possible of what lies behind the club scene. In addition to the clubs, the book also features interviews with many scooterists in Germany, asking them how they view the scene, what role it plays in their lives, and what it truly means to be connected to scooters for a lifetime.
