MIKUNI TMX27 carburetor - 27 mm, Powerjet, oil connection, manual choke
The carburetors from the Japanese manufacturer Mikuni belong to the reference class when it comes to perfect tunability and therefore the highest achievable performance with optimum consumption. Mikuni carburetors and parts are manufactured with tolerances of 5/1000ths. This is one of the reasons why they run so perfectly. However, you should take a little time for tuning, as the Mikuni carburetors do not run with just any carburetor configuration, but only with the right one. But then they also run perfectly and you don't expose the engine to the risk of it only running properly in some partial load ranges and then blowing up in one of the other partial load ranges.
Thanks to the Powerjet jet, the TMX 27 also offers the possibility of tuning the carburetor leaner in the middle speed and slide range in order to gain power there and reduce consumption. In order to prevent leaning in the upper slide and speed range, the Powerjet nozzle is used there, which additionally feeds fuel into the intake flow due to the high vacuum at full throttle and high speeds.
The TMX27 is one of the few large carburetors with a connection for fresh oil. This makes this carburetor particularly interesting for large automatic engines which, despite tuning, do not want to do without an oil pump in everyday use.
Mikuni carburetors react quickly to fine fuel contamination by overflowing the float chamber. Ideally, therefore, a good fuel filter should be used here.
