Clutch and brake lever set -PREMIUM- aluminum for Vespa 98 and early Vespa 125
High-quality aluminum clutch and brake lever set for the first Vespa post-war generations. The levers are based on the original parts and offer a suitable solution for early wideframe models such as Vespa 98, 125 V1, V11-15, V30-33 and the Vespa model "U". Ideal for restorations where function and period-correct appearance are equally important.

Design and material
Clutch and brake lever made of aluminum, designed for use on the original handlebars of the early Wideframe series.
Lever contour and lever length are based on the early Piaggio parts from the model years approx. 1946 to 1953 and blend in harmoniously with the handlebar head and dashboard surroundings.
The mounts for the cable nipples and bearings are cleanly made so that the levers can be operated smoothly and play can be compensated for cleanly using the cable adjustment options.
Use on early wideframe models
Especially on very old vehicles, the original levers are often worn out, bent or damaged by corrosion and crashes. With this set, the clutch and brake side can be restored to a defined original condition. The levers fit the corresponding handlebar heads of the early 98 and 125 models and make use of the existing cable technology.
For a coherent restoration, the set offers a good compromise between a look that is close to the original and a fresh, functionally reliable component. In conjunction with new cables, covers and properly adjusted mechanics, the modulation of the clutch and front brake is significantly improved.
Early 98cc and 125cc Vespa models
- Vespa 98 (V98T, from chassis 2400)
- Vespa 125 (V1T)
- Vespa 125 (V11-15T)
- Vespa 125 (V30-33T)
- Vespa 125 U (VU1T, model "U")
Era: approx. 1946 to 1953, based on the original handlebar and dash geometry of these model years. In the case of converted handlebar heads or later fittings, the installation situation should be checked in advance.
Fitting instructions
Remove the old levers, clean and lightly grease the bearings. Then insert the new levers with the existing axle bolts or fastening elements.
Check that the clutch and brake cables run freely and smoothly. If the cables are frayed or stiff, we recommend replacing them at the same time.
After fitting, adjust the play on the clutch and brake cables so that the levers are clearly defined, but there is a minimal feeling of free travel before the actual engagement.
FAQ: Clutch and brake lever set -PREMIUM- Vespa 98/125
Frequently asked questions
Why a set and not individual levers?
Clutch and brake levers usually age evenly. With a set, both sides are visually and technically brought up to the same standard, resulting in a more harmonious overall appearance for restored vehicles.
Do the levers also fit later wideframe or largeframe models?
This set is explicitly designed for the early Vespa models according to the compatibility list. Later handlebar heads and fittings sometimes use different lever contours and mounts, which is why we do not recommend using them there.
Do I also need to order new axle bolts or small parts?
If the existing axle bolts are free from scoring and corrosion, they can continue to be used. If the parts are clearly worn or bent, it makes sense to replace them to ensure smooth lever operation.
Are the levers polished or raw?
The levers are supplied with an aluminum finish suitable for use on classic scooters. Depending on the requirements of the restoration, they can be installed in this way or further refined by the customer to a high gloss or subtle matt finish.
What does the Piaggio code 4036 mean in this context?
This code refers to the corresponding Piaggio reference and makes it easier to identify original parts and spare parts catalogs. The set is intended as a replacement for this early generation of levers and is based on their geometry.
