Full cheek crankshaft for powerful Vespa large-frame reed engines - with 60 mm stroke, 110 mm CNC/RDP connecting rod and flow-oriented cheek shape.
The DEXTER RACING full cheek crankshaft is designed for Vespa Largeframe engines with diaphragm intake on the housing. With 60 mm stroke, it offers 3 mm more stroke than the standard PX200 crankshaft and is therefore suitable for high-torque touring and performance setups based on Vespa PX200 and Rally200 with Ducati ignition. The closed full cheek design supports smooth engine running, while the shape of the cheeks is designed for the freest possible gas flow in the reed valve inlet.

In a classic rotary vane engine, the crankshaft controls the intake via the rotary vane surface in the engine housing. A full cheek shaft like this DEXTER RACING version, on the other hand, is designed for diaphragm engines. The intake is controlled by the diaphragm, while the crankshaft should present as little obstruction to the flow in the crankcase as possible.
The cheek shape of the DEXTER RACING crankshaft is therefore matched to the gas flow in vane-controlled large-frame crankcase inlets. This makes it particularly interesting for powerful PX200 and Rally200 engines with reed valve box, large carburetor and corresponding cylinder and exhaust concept.
This crankshaft is a full cheek shaft for reed valve setups. It is not intended for operation with a standard rotary valve intake.
With a 60 mm stroke, the DEXTER RACING crankshaft is 3 mm longer than the standard PX200 stroke. This increases the effective displacement and gives the engine a stronger torque base. This is a proven basis for powerful touring engines and sporty road set-ups, especially with 200cc large-frame engines.
However, the larger stroke also changes the installation situation on the cylinder. The crushing edge, timing, piston clearance and cylinder position must be checked during assembly and, if necessary, adjusted using base or head gaskets, spacer plates or suitable machining.
The crankshaft is equipped with a 110 mm CNC/RDP connecting rod and is designed for pistons with 16 mm piston pins. This makes it suitable for typical PX200 and Rally200-based cylinder concepts, provided the piston pin, connecting rod length and stroke match the respective cylinder design.
The shaft has an insert for weighting and balancing. In conjunction with the full cheek design and the weight of approx. 1.9 kg, this results in a crankshaft for engines where smooth running, good filling behavior and resilient performance are more important than an extremely light, high-revving characteristic.
The DEXTER RACING full cheek crankshaft is designed for performance-oriented Vespa large-frame projects where the engine is built with a diaphragm intake anyway. It is particularly well suited to powerful 200cc setups with a larger cylinder, adapted exhaust, large carburetor and appropriately tuned transmission.

The DEXTER RACING full cheek crankshaft with 60 mm stroke is a consistent crankshaft for Vespa PX200 and Rally200 engines with reed valve intake. It combines more stroke, a 110 mm CNC/RDP connecting rod, flow-oriented cheeks and a solid overall mass to form a strong basis for high-torque large-frame setups. It is important to plan the entire engine appropriately: this shaft belongs in a reed valve engine, not in an unmodified rotary valve setup.
