Powerful 175cc touring cylinder from CC Corsa with diaphragm intake for Vespa Wideframe

Gabriele Cagni, founder of CC Corsa from Emilia Romagna in Italy, puts the topic of wideframe tuning on a new footing. His aluminum cylinder developed by Falc Racing with wear-resistant Nicasil coating features a generously dimensioned diaphragm inlet and a modern cylinder layout. The scavenging surfaces and its geometry as well as the exhaust have been redesigned from the ground up. They now offer, despite full compatibility with the original engine case, a huge increase in power and torque. The piston with Ø61mm is an old known from the Malossi 166cc cylinder. This scores with its low weight and its very good thermal load capacity that it is ribbed on the underside of the piston and also by its very open design is very well flushed.
The kit is designed as a plug and play whereby no milling work or the like on the engine must be made.The cylinder shirt is so short that even here no intervention in the engine housing is necessary.Of course, a proper engine revision with high quality spare parts is required.
Experience has shown that small adjustments (deburring, fine work) are always recommended for such old engines.

WHY MEMBRANE INLET
The diaphragm inlet offers two advantages. Detached from the original piston-operated intake, with its forced symmetrical control diagram, the diaphragm intake automatically controls the intake opening angle. If, with a piston-controlled intake for high performance, compromises always have to be made in the lower speed range, the diaphragm control is fully in its element here. It enables high starting torque in the lower speed range as well as plenty of throttle throughput in the medium and upper speed ranges. The usable engine speed range thus rises sharply and the engine becomes significantly more drivable despite increased power.

POWER AND TORQUE
The 175cc CC Corsa cylinder beams any wideframe engine into the modern era. A whopping 21hp at 7800rpm with a rev reserve (overrev) to 8500rpm Gabriele states for his masterpiece. Here it should be noted that CC Corsa is one of the very few manufacturers who openly deal with performance data. That is very pleasing, besides we could confirm the power data on our own test stand fully.

CURB SHAFT / EXHAUST / CARBURATOR
To achieve the stated performance a crankshaft with 60mm stroke and 110mm connecting rod is required. The crankshaft from CC Corsa is the perfect partner for the strong 175mm kit. As exhaust we also carry the exhaust available from CC Corsa. As carburetor Gabriele recommends a PHBH24.

SCOPE OF DELIVERY
The scope of delivery includes all small parts needed for assembly. This includes the intake manifold with diaphragm, gaskets including connecting rubber and clamps as well as the screwed exhaust manifold. Also included are foot gaskets of different thicknesses to adapt the cylinder perfectly to the respective engine (with regard to the pinch point between piston and cylinder head).
