The BGM PRO exhaust for 55 mm stroke is a clearly sporty performance system for Piaggio Maxi 2-stroke engines with a long-stroke setup and was developed by DDL. In contrast to the 52 mm version, this version is much more tailored to 55 mm crankshafts and therefore to powerful 172 to 180 cc concepts. Its territory is engines that are cleanly built, should rotate freely at the top and where the cylinder, head and timing really match the stroke.
This version is particularly interesting for 55 mm crankshaft setups. The available sources mainly mention Piaggio original 172, Malossi 172 and PM Tuning 180. Dealers also mention original 125cc, 150cc and 180cc cylinders, although the exhaust only really comes into its own there if the engine is really set up for a long stroke.
According to available dealer information, the exhaust works well with the original ignition. However, for it to run really cleanly, the overall package should match the 55 mm stroke. This is exactly where a good running long-stroke engine separates itself from a parts package that has only been assembled.
