Back on the 200: Speed instead of torque - yieehaa!

Field of application

The LTH box for 200cc large-frame models (PX200, Rally 200, Motovespa DN and DS 200) is based on the riding feel of the open 177cc racing version: it builds up speed primarily via revs, remains easy to modulate at the bottom end and delivers a free, long revving top end. Ideal for sporty road and touring setups.

Characteristics

The short manifold and the racing-oriented internal routing promote fast revving and a wide power band at the top. The focus is less on early maximum torque and more on a lively mid-range and clear top speed orientation. Works close to standard, but rewards engines with a sportier set-up in particular.

Setup and gear ratio

- Near-stock 24/24 carburetor works very well, larger setups are possible (assuming proper jetting).
- Do not select a primary that is too long, so that the engine can rev freely and the top speed is determined by the revving capacity.
- Runs on stock to sporty 200cc setups; the full potential is revealed on high-torque engines.

Installation and tuning

Plug-and-play on the original mounting points. Ensure stress-free installation and tight connections. Cleanly tune the carburetor after installation, adjust the main jet as required, check the spark plug pattern and temperatures. Retighten screw connections after 50-100 km.

Scope of delivery

LTH box exhaust system.

Note on the earlier LTH200 version

The previously produced LTH200 box had an extra long manifold. This ensured very early, high torque, but with noticeably less power in the upper rev range than with other box systems.

The version offered here uses a short manifold and is correspondingly free-revving - perfect for sporty engines that build up a strong upper rev range. If you are looking for a more torquey characteristic with plenty of pull from low revs instead, it is better to go for the BGM Touring or Polini box.

Advantages at a glance

- Short manifold for free revving and high top speed

- Racing character like the open 177cc version

- Can be ridden close to standard, particularly efficient with sporty setups

- Unobtrusive boxy look, touring-suitable background noise

- Plug-and-play, good ground clearance

The previous long manifold delivered very early, high torque, but left power at the top. The current short manifold version is clearly speed-oriented and offers a longer, sportier top end.
No, it also works close to standard. It unfolds its full potential on sportily tuned 200cc engines. A clean carburetor tuning is important.
Don't choose too long. The box rewards setups that rev freely. Primary ratios that are too long cost liveliness and top speed despite the free-revving character.
Yes, the near-standard box design offers good ground clearance and is compatible with a main stand. The background noise is moderate and suitable for touring, depending on tightness and setup.
For very early torque and strong pulling power, we recommend BGM Touring or Polini Box.
