with E-approvalWith its new exhaust, Polini offers a nice alternative to the well-known candidates. Like the Malossi RX exhaust, the Polini is also manufactured by Arrow, a guarantee for solid and high-quality workmanship. The exhaust has an aluminium body with a matt anodized and brushed oil surface as well as a stainless steel interior and manifold
. A gimmick is the DB-Killer insert, which can be quickly removed and fitted and is held in place by a circlip. Like almost all exhaust systems for the GTS/GTV models, the exhaust is designed as a so-called slip-on version. This means that the enclosed manifold is fitted to the original exhaust manifold of the vehicle. The lambda sensor is therefore retained and does not need to be touched to fit the exhaust.
The Polini muffler has E(9) homologation for the noise for the following vehicles:
NOTE for vehicles from 125cc with homologation date after 01.01.2006:
These may only be operated with a regulated catalytic converter. If this is removed, the operating license expires. Vehicles with Euro3 standard can be recognized by the stamped test marks on the original exhaust system: The last two circled numbers are decisive here.
5 confirms homologation for a Euro3-tested vehicle. The 9 confirms compliance with the noise limit values.
Many manufacturers of aftermarket and sports exhaust systems limit themselves to the approval of the rear silencer with regard to the noise values (9). These can only be used legally on the road in conjunction with an optional catalytic converter. The insert catalytic converter then has the marking (5)
Remus and Akrapovic offer their systems with an optional insert catalytic converter. This means that they are approved as full replacements and conform to registration requirements. LeoVince and Polini do not currently offer this option.
This means that these systems are equipped without a catalytic converter, there are no retrofit catalytic converters available from the manufacturer (as of 06.2015) and are therefore not officially approved for operation on vehicles with a homologation from 01.01.2006 (Euro3).
The key numbers in the vehicle registration document provide the most reliable information:
Euro1 and Euro2
Old vehicle registration document: Number 1,2 Key: 00, 09, 10
New vehicle registration document: Number 14.1 Key 020, 029 or 0210
Euro3
New vehicle registration document: Number 14.1 Key 0212
NOTE: The original suspension of the Vespa GT/GTS models is very softly tuned. A sports exhaust can therefore graze the fairing during heavy compression. This can be remedied by converting to better tuned sports dampers, e.g. from BGM (see accessories)
