Float -DELLORTO- PHBH, PHBL - 9,5g (white, same function as 11g black)

The carburettor float ensures the correct fuel level in the float chamber.
As the name suggests, it floats in the fuel and receives a buoyancy from it. The float needle is attached to the float chamber. This closes the float needle valve.
If the float is defective the carburettor overflows because the float no longer produces buoyancy. The same happens if the float needle is defective. Even then the carburettor overflows.

The float weight and the material determine the buoyancy. The heavier the float is, the deeper it lies in the fuel. This results in a high float level and the engine runs fatter.

NOTE: Dell'Orto uses different plastics for its floats (black and white). These have a different buoyancy for the same weight.

This overview shows which float weight produces the same buoyancy:

Example 1: The carburettor has a white float with 9.5 grams.
If this is to be replaced, a black float with 11.0 grams can also be used.

Example 2: The carburettor has a white float with 6.5 grams and should run fatter.
A float in white with 9.5 grams or in black with 11 grams can be used. Both work equally well.

Example3: The carburetor has a black float with 11 gram and should run leaner.
A float in white with 6,5 gram or in black with 8,0 gram can be used.
