BGM PRO Torquemaster - longer 2nd gear for a sportier gear ratio


This gear wheel is not a standard gear ratio, but a targeted optimization of the 2nd gear.
Instead of the standard 42 teeth, this version has 40 teeth. The result: the gear jump to 3rd gear is smaller, the gradation feels more harmonious and sportier overall - especially with powerful setups.

Especially in the lower gears 1 and 2, where the driving resistance is even lower, the additional engine power can be better utilized. The 2nd gear can be extended as far as a motorcycle without 3 and 4 becoming unnecessarily long - as often happens when only the primary is selected longer. The long 2nd gear is therefore predestined for powerful engines that like to be fully extended and are usually ridden solo.

Why "long 2nd gear" instead of just a longer primary?
An extended primary makes all gears longer - this often makes 3rd and 4th gear too long in practice, especially with a heavy load or headwind. The longer 2nd gear solves a different problem: it reduces the jump to 3rd gear and makes the transmission much smoother in sporty operation without unnecessarily stretching the long gears.

The BGM PRO Torquemaster gears are made of 14NiCrMo13 (1.6657), a high-alloy case-hardening steel used in high-performance gearbox construction. Compared to the previous standard material (20NiCrMo2-2), there are decisive advantages:

The Torquemaster 2nd gear wheel (40 teeth) is fully interchangeable with the original gear wheels of all Lusso-type Vespa gearboxes from 1984 onwards. Compatible with:
