Introduction
Aprilia Habana/Mojito 125 Custom (1999–2001, ZD4PM)
The Aprilia Habana 125 – also known as the Mojito 125 in some markets – is a retro scooter from the Italian manufacturer Aprilia, produced between 1999 and 2001. This model falls into the light scooter category and was developed as a stylish alternative for urban use with a nostalgic design appeal.
With its distinctly classic look, the scooter targeted riders who place special value on design and riding comfort – without compromising on modern technology. The Habana/Mojito series was introduced to stand out from the sporty design of other Aprilia models like the SR or Leonardo.
Model History
The Habana/Mojito 125 appeared in the late 1990s when retro designs were gaining popularity in the scooter market. Aprilia seized this opportunity to launch a model with the classic charm of American cruisers, without compromising on reliability or everyday usability.
At that time, Aprilia was still independent (before the takeover by Piaggio in 2004) and invested heavily in design diversity. The Habana/Mojito series was offered alongside the technology-oriented Leonardo series. With its low-slung handlebars, flowing lines, and chrome elements, the Custom variant specifically appealed to lovers of classic scooter styles.
Technical Details
The Aprilia Habana/Mojito 125 is equipped with an air-cooled 124 cc four-stroke engine, delivering around 10 hp (approximately 7.5 kW) at about 8,500 rpm. The engine comes from Aprilia's then four-stroke program and impresses with smooth operation and easy maintenance. It is fueled via a carburetor and is combined with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT).
The scooter reaches a top speed of around 90 km/h. The steel tube frame ensures stability, while a conventional telescopic fork at the front and a mono-shock swingarm at the rear handle suspension duties. Braking is handled by a disc brake (Ø approx. 220 mm) at the front and a drum brake at the rear. The vehicle has a dry weight of about 115 kg and features a fuel tank with a capacity of approximately 7 liters.
Color Options and Accessories
The Habana/Mojito 125 was offered in various color variants, including classic black, ivory white, pastel blue, and metallic red. Particularly striking was the lovingly crafted design with plenty of chrome, giving the scooter an individual and high-quality appearance.
Special models were not officially designated, but there were differences between the "Classic" and the "Custom" versions – the latter featured lower handlebars, a minimalist windshield, and other visual details. Accessories included a top case, a chrome luggage rack, a windshield, and special seat variants to further enhance comfort or style.
