All-rounder | Can be used from series PX200 to 260 cc (Quattrini/VMC) - wide setup window |
---|---|
Pre-reso | Very good pre-reso performance - early torque, excellent rideability in everyday use |
Overrev | Wide speed range with long overrev - high cruising and top speeds |
Throughput | 32 mm tailpipe - thermally uncritical even with powerful 200+ setups |
Sound | Powerful, beguilingly muffled - sporty, not shrill sound |
Wide tires | Suitable for wide tires; very good ground clearance due to left-hand layout |
Workmanship | Turned flange parts, solid clamp (optional spring suspension), clean weld seams |
Longevity | A mature classic for 25 years - proven for powerful, high-torque engines |
Stainless steel - rustproof Lefthand design Mature classic (25+ years) Strong pre-reso performance Wideband & overrev 32 mm tailpipe (thermally uncritical) Very good ground clearance Wide tires possible Plug-and-play
The RS-Series is a mature classic in the best sense of the word: Originally developed for the Malossi 210, it has established itself as an all-rounder - from complete standard engines to 260 cc Quattrini or VMC "displacement monsters". It always delivers very good pre-reso performance combined with a strong top end and wide rev range/overrev - ideal for powerful 200cc PX setups with a sporty gear.
Early punch thanks to pre-reso, powerful in the middle, very rev-happy at the top end. After the peak, the power only drops off slowly - the long overrev enables high cruising and top speeds. The 32 mm tailpipe makes the exhaust thermally uncritical on high-output and high-temperature setups. The sound: powerful, beguilingly muffled - sporty without being shrill.
- Works from standard up to 260 cc (e.g. Malossi/MHR, Quattrini, VMC).
- Standard carburetor possible; depending on the setup, a larger carburetor/intake tract may be advisable. Clean jetting is mandatory (check spark plug pattern/EGT).
- Do not choose a primary that is too long - the engine should rev freely to take advantage of overrev.
Plug-and-play at the original points in Lefthand. Install tension-free, set sealing surfaces cleanly, retighten screw connections after 50-100 km. Spare wheel cannot be combined - in return very good ground clearance and wide tire suitability.
✅ Exhaust body: Stainless steel
✅ Tailpipe: 32 mm (high flow rate)
✅ Design: Lefthand, without spare wheel
✅ Character: Strong pre-reso, wide bandwidth, long overrev
✅ Application: Vespa PX200 / P200E (depending on model/setup)
Turned flange parts instead of simple pipe sections - for maximum fitting accuracy on the cylinder and manifold connector.
Solid clamp on the flange, optionally with spring suspension - decouples vibrations, increases long-term stability.
Clean weld seams, precisely fitting brackets - durable, tight connections.
Corrosion | Stainless steel: rust-free, suitable for winter. | Steel: paint protection required; can rust. |
---|---|---|
Cracking tendency* | Stainless steel: somewhat more susceptible to cracking with many heat cycles (expansion/hotspots). | Steel: tends to be less susceptible. |
Maintenance | Stainless steel: little effort. | Steel: check/repaint paint spots. |
* The required mileage is generally not achieved in hobby use.
In principle also works on a standard engine, but offers more visual and sound advantages. Very compatible with Malossi MHR cylinders; Malossi sports cylinders should be reworked at the exhaust for full performance. Also a very good choice for Quattrini M232/244 and VMC Ranger 213 as well as Explorer 244.
