The VAPE 12-volt AC system modernizes classic large-frame Vespas: contactless ignition, powerful light even when idling and a superior cold start. As an AC variant, the system is deliberately kept simple: no battery required, fewer sources of error, clear wiring via a central controller. High-quality materials, precise manufacturing and 100 percent functional testing ensure lasting reliability - even with more powerful engines.
Laser-marked components for clear identification. Pole wheel and fan wheel are precisely balanced; the CNC-milled fan wheel delivers high cooling performance with a stable flywheel mass.
VAPE completely replaces the contact ignition and includes a powerful 12 V AC alternator. Strong permanent magnets deliver high ignition current and bright light even at idle - contact and capacitor service are no longer required.
This version is designed as 12 V AC. The voltage regulator stabilizes the on-board voltage, lights and consumers are supplied directly from the alternator. This is the simplest and most robust solution for classic large frames: fewer components, fewer contact resistances, no battery management. Note: A DC conversion is possible in principle (ground-free stator), but requires additional components and is not the basic concept here.
Supplied with CDI for static timing - suitable for most 2-stroke street concepts. A dynamically adjustable CDI is available as an option.
Simple installation at original points - without "flashing". Markings make positioning easier. Install without tension, ground points cleanly; retighten screws after 50-100 km.
Single-slot mounting prevents incorrect installation. The inertia is defined by the fan wheel; the inertia can be adjusted by changing the fan wheel. Optimized blade geometry for maximum cooling performance.
A suitable wiring harness is mandatory for conversion to VAPE. Many large-frame models use decentralized, self-regulating electrics as standard (coils individually connected to consumers). VAPE, on the other hand, works centrally via a main power cable to the voltage regulator.
In addition, original wiring harnesses are often old and dilapidated - increased contact resistances due to corrosion then cause voltage drops, flickering lights or dropouts. A new wiring harness is therefore not just "compatibility", but a real reliability factor.
