The VAPE 12-volt system modernizes classic large-frame Vespas: contactless ignition, powerful light even at idle and superior cold start. High-quality materials, precise manufacturing and 100% functional testing ensure long-lasting reliability - even with more powerful engines.

Quality

Laser-marked components for clear identification. Pole wheel and fan wheel are precisely balanced; the CNC-machined fan wheel delivers high cooling performance with a stable flywheel mass.

Conversion from contact ignition

VAPE completely replaces the contact ignition and includes a powerful 12 V alternator. Powerful permanent magnets provide high ignition current and bright light even when idling - no need for contact and capacitor service.

AC or DC on-board power supply

AC ex works; can be converted to DC by replacing the regulator (floating stator). With DC, the battery supplies all consumers - power even without the engine running (ideal for powerful headlights/USB).

Ignition timing

Supplied with CDI for static ZZP - suitable for most 2-stroke street concepts. A dynamically adjusting CDI is available as an option.

Installation & ignition adjustment

Simple installation at original points - without "flashing". Markings facilitate positioning. Tension-free installation, clean ground points; retighten screws after 50-100 km.

Pole wheel & fan wheel

single-slot mounting prevents incorrect installation. The inertia is defined by the fan wheel; the inertia can be adjusted by changing the fan wheel. Optimized blade geometry for maximum cooling performance.

Wiring harness note (mandatory for old systems)

Old large-frame models often use decentralized self-regulating alternators (coils individually connected to consumers). VAPE works centrally via a main power cable to the regulator - this requires a suitable wiring harness. In addition, old cables often have increased contact resistance (corrosion). Suitable conversion wiring harnesses are available.

AC is simple and robust. DC supplies power from the battery even when stationary - ideal for powerful headlights/USB. Conversion by replacing the controller. However, the vehicle wiring harness must be adapted or replaced
This version is designed for models without electric starter. Please use the appropriate version for electric starters.
Yes, if a decentralized self-regulating system was previously installed (typically old large frames): VAPE routes all coils centrally via the controller. A suitable wiring harness is therefore mandatory and also reduces contact resistances.

Note: A very good earth connection is essential for long-lasting, fault-free operation.
