The VAPE 12 V DC system modernizes classic large-frame Vespas with contactless ignition and a fully-fledged DC on-board electrical system. Bright light even when idling, reliable LED/USB power supply and clean starting characteristics - ideal for engines with increased performance.

Quality

Laser-marked components for clear identification. Pole wheel/fan wheel precisely balanced; the CNC-milled fan wheel delivers high cooling performance with a practical flywheel mass.

Conversion from contact ignition

VAPE completely replaces the contact ignition and includes a powerful 12 V alternator. Permanent magnets provide ample energy for ignition and DC on-board power supply - contact and capacitor service are no longer required.

DC on-board power supply (ex works)

The ground-free stator feeds the rectifier/regulator (DC) - all consumers run on 12 V DC. The battery buffers the mains, supplies light/USB even when the engine is not running and stabilizes idling voltage. Ideal for powerful headlights, navigation/USB, LED indicators (use DC flasher unit).

Ignition timing

Supplied with CDI for static timing - suitable for most 2-stroke street concepts. A dynamically adjustable CDI is available as an option.

Installation & ignition adjustment

Simple installation at original points - without "flashing" thanks to reference marks (testing with flash lamp possible). Ground points must be bare/tight; retighten screw connections after 50-100 km.

Pole wheel & fan wheel

Single-slot mounting prevents incorrect assembly. The centrifugal mass is defined by the fan wheel; the mass inertia can be adjusted by changing the fan wheel. Optimized blade geometry for high cooling capacity.

Wiring harness note

Many older large frames work with decentralized self-regulating AC coils. VAPE DC feeds all coils centrally to the DC controller and requires a battery, main fuse and DC distribution.

Recommended: Suitable DC conversion wiring harness (Sprint, GTR, TS) or modify existing wiring harness (PX LUsso, Disc, Cosa, LML), DC horn/DC flasher unit (if previously AC), low-corrosion plug connections.

DC supplies stable 12 V from the battery - light/USB even when stationary, clean LED behavior. This version comes from the factory as DC. Conversion to AC only makes sense with a separate AC controller (not recommended).
This version is designed for models without electric starter. Please select the appropriate version for electric starters.
Yes - for vehicles with decentralized AC electrics, a DC wiring harness/conversion harness is required (battery, main fuse, DC distribution). Also use DC horn and DC flasher unit if necessary.

Note: Proper ground connections and cleanly laid cables are essential for long-term trouble-free operation.
