The YGROS RACE by VAPE (AC) is the simplest and at the same time very practical solution for modernizing a Vespa GS160 1st series electrically. The system supplies 12V alternating current (AC) with 110 W and works with a static (fixed) ignition timing.
The big advantage of the AC version: It works completely without a battery - fewer components, fewer sources of error, clear structure. Regardless of whether your GS160 was originally designed with a battery ignition concept or as a magneto ignition: the conversion is carried out as a modern 12V system and always requires a new wiring harness.
The original wiring harness is generally not designed for a centralized regulator system - and is often simply too old and dilapidated after decades. The following therefore applies:
The GS160 1st series has a crankshaft with a small cone (Ø19 mm). When overhauling the engine, it is worth keeping an eye on the overall concept:
Note: For 1st series engines, be sure to check the cone/key/pole wheel fit and flash the ignition timing cleanly after installation.
