The DC version of the YGROS ROAD by VAPE is aimed at riders who want maximum suitability for everyday use and modern power reserves for their GS160 1st series. Here, the entire current from the alternator is fed into a battery via a DC regulator - and the on-board electrical system is then supplied completely from the battery with 12V direct current.
This means a little more conversion work, but also clear advantages: Lights independent of engine speed, lights even when the engine is not running and sufficient reserves for DC consumers such as LED headlights, USB or sat nav. A new wiring harness is always mandatory - even if the vehicle originally had a 6V battery system.
A DC system is never "plug and play" with old 6V electrics. The conversion is set up as a modern 12V system with a central controller and battery, which is why the same applies here:
The GS160 1st series uses a crankshaft with a small cone (Ø19 mm). If you are overhauling the engine and need a new crankshaft anyway, this is the perfect time for an upgrade:
Note: Check cone/pole wheel fit and ignition timing after installation - particularly important for 1st series configurations.
The YGROS ROAD by VAPE 12V DC is the comfort solution for the GS160 1st series: battery buffer, constant light and reserves for modern DC consumers. The conversion is more complex than AC, but technically consistent - and works as a complete change to a modern 12V system. New wiring harness is always mandatory.
