The intake funnel replaces the original air filter. An increase in performance is primarily achieved by the strongly over-distributed flow to the air correction jets. As a result, the mixture leans out more as the engine speed increases than with the standard air filter (the standard air filter partially covers the nozzle block (main nozzle block and idle nozzle block) and thus ensures a linear function of the air correction).
Correction of the air jets
With an intake funnel, the air correction should therefore be set higher than the setup with the original air filter. For example: Air correction nozzle main jet stock: #160 should be reduced to #140. The secondary jet, which is designed in two parts with a permanently integrated air correction jet, should also be set higher. Here, too, the air correction component is decisive, not the size of the fuel passage hole. In the case of the secondary jet, 55/160 becomes 55/140 or 55/120.
Correction of the fuel ratio
If the air correction ratio is not changed, the fuel side of the nozzle blocks must be heavily greased. This means that the main jet must be enlarged disproportionately in order to compensate for the greater reduction in the air correction. As a rule, however, this leads to a very heavily greased mid-range, as a result of which the engine cannot be run cleanly at partial load.
